ABOUT THE SHOW…
Game On, the sports news magazine show dedicated to Women’s Sports, hosted by Anna Kagarakis. Since 2013, each episode focuses on female athletes, competitors and coaches. The program also tells the stories of groundbreaking women moving the sports industry forward, and leaving a legacy of their own, including teachers, executives, and sports journalists. With the help of our correspondents Kate Rooney and Jackelyn Ho, Game On aims to bring issues forefront, as well as shedding light on lesser known topics that affect women in sports today.
Anna is the host of Game On. Having joined Comcast Hometown Network in 2013, she also worked as sideline reporter for the network’s CHN Sports. Anna is also the cohost of “Franco & Kags” and Sportscenter Update Anchor on radio’s 95.7 The Game, as well as host for lifestyle show “Slice of Life”. Born and raised in the Bay Area and a San Francisco State University graduate in Broadcasting, Anna has been in the broadcasting arena for 14 years. She got her start working in news doing various types of production work at KTVU, Fox 2, KRON4, and KPIX-CBS, while also sports reporting for the show “High School Sports Focus”. Anna has received two NATAS Emmy awards, four nominations, and three Peninsula Press Awards. Outside of work, she loves cooking, reading, playing kickball and spending time with her family including her sons, Dean and Lucas, and husband, Paul.
Kate joined Comcast Hometown Network in 2015, as sideline reporter and Game On correspondent. Game On has been a bit of a passion project for Kate, since the opportunities to tell the stories of women in sports can be so few and far between. Kate also splits time as a host and reporter at Pac-12 Networks in San Francisco, and has worked for media outlets such as USCFootball.com, Bruin Sports Report, and the L.A. Times. Born and raised in San Francisco, she spent 10 years on the East Coast before returning to her home state. In between watching and covering games, you can find Kate hiking, trying new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and jamming out to Broadway show-tunes. Kate holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory of Music, and a M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California. Fight On!
Jackelyn joined the Game On family in 2014 as the show’s health and fitness expert after graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcast Communication. Following graduation, she founded Fiterazzi Magazine, a fitness magazine focused on positive body image. After a year of immersing herself in the magazine world, she sold her company and joined a media startup. At the same time, she was also a full-time fitness instructor, working with international brands like Nike to host major fitness events alongside celebrity athletes like her tennis idol, Serena Williams. In addition to being a reporter for Game On, Jackelyn is currently a columnist for Inc Magazine, a Digital Marketing Manager for LegalNet Inc, as well as a budding founder of a new gym. Despite her intense fitness background, her favorite food is a Costco Polish Sausage.
Danielle was born and raised in the Bay Area and has always had a passion for sports, lettering in 4 varsity sports in high school including swimming, track and field, cheer-leading, and wrestling. She is a UCLA alumna and former UCLA cheerleader who began her broadcast career on the sidelines of UCLA football and basketball games. She fondly remembers going from on the court or field performing, to a quick change before chasing down the post-game interviews. After UCLA, Danielle worked as the weekend sports anchor and reporter for CBS-5 KGWN in Cheyenne, WY where she covered everything from Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo to soccer games in a blizzard. Danielle has also produced content and interviews for Bruin Report Online, Get Sports Focus, and Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area. Danielle joined the Game On team in 2017 and is also a sideline reporter for CHN Sports.
Shelina became a correspondent for Game On in 2017. Originally a professional motorcycle racer, Shelina has ventured into the television world first as host of Motorcycle Startup on NBC Sports Bay Area. Having grown up riding motorcycles on her family’s dairy farm in Northern California, Shelina races at the Pro level in the USA, China, Qatar, Japan, and Europe. She has several “firsts” to her career, including being the first female to race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on a motorcycle, as well as the first female team to complete any Suzuka endurance race. Most recently, she became the first female to race the Zhuhai International Circuit in China where she finished third. She also finished first in the Women’s Championship in Qatar in 2016. Off the track, Shelina also works as a speaker for Progressive International Motorcycle Sports shows, as a brand spokesperson, and she runs She’z Moto Camp, an all-female motorcycle skills school that focuses on building confidence and inspiring people—especially women—to build their goals.
