CHN-NOW airs weekly on CHN-819 Comcast every Monday at 7pm. Hosted by Aubrey Aquino the program features news updates from around the nation and the region that impact our audience and their lives. CHN-NOW takes a closer look at issues in the Bay and wider region with compelling documentary stories of local culture, people and places. The focus is always on stories that matter and stories that inspire, and issues that are under-reported or not reported by other media outlets. Simply put, CHN-NOW brings you the stories that you can’t get anywhere else.
Host Bio
Aubrey Aquino
Aubrey Aquino is a TV Host and Reporter from the Bay Area, CA. She is the creator and personality of On The Flipside and she’s well-known for her entertainment and feature segments that have aired on Deco Drive/WSVN. Aubrey’s television projects have also included The Hampton Roads Show, HEAT TV and The Welcome Channel, plus she appeared on E! News, Fox Sports Net and CNN. To her credit, she’s interviewed countless celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Meryl Streep, Miley Cyrus, John Travolta, P. Diddy, Billy Bob Thornton, Forest Whitaker, Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Dempsey, Serena Williams, Eva Mendes, Ne-Yo, Ludacris, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Steven Tyler.The “fun” side of Aubrey’s work has included wrestling an alligator in the Florida Everglades, feeding stingrays in the Bahamas and paddle surfing in the Atlantic Ocean! She has even worked in the music industry as an artist manager.
Reporter Bios
Karli Mullane
Karli Mullane is a field reporter for Comcast Hometown Network’s CHN NOW. Having decided in the sixth grade to become a television reporter, she first earned a B.A. in History summa cum laude from UCLA and then an M.A. in Radio and Television from San Francisco State University so that she was well prepared in all aspects of storytelling. Karli got her professional reporting start in 2004 at Bay City News Service in San Francisco and made her TV debut in 2007 at KHSL in Chico, CA. In 2009, she pitched a video strategy to executive management at online media network POPSUGAR and was hired on the spot to start it. Karli joined CHN in 2012, and is proud to share unique stories with the hometown audience. When she’s not on camera, Karli enjoys running her celebrity-inspired travel business GALUXSEE, volunteering as the Girl Scouts of Northern California, San Francisco Service Unit’s media representative, and being adventurous with her firefighter husband.
Blake Tucker (aka Dr. Inkwell)
Blake founded the SF based cocktail social club,Boozephreaks in 2006. Via his alter ego, Dr. Inkwell,Blake shares his passion by organizing local tours, advising distillers, creating cocktail programs, and teaching the taste, culture, and history of international spirits. A photographer and video producer, Blak e has shown his work at the San Francisco Airport Museum and SF LGBT Museum, and serves as official photographer for the San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest. He also worked on Star Wars and several Pixar films.As Dr. Inkwell, Blake’s mission isn’t to make you drink more—it’s to help you drink well.
Sarah Aerni
Sarah Aerni is a Senior Manager of Data Science at Salesforce Einstein, where she leads teams building AI powered applications across the Salesforce platform. Prior to Salesforce she led Data Science in healthcare & life science and Federal teams at Pivotal. Sarah obtained her PhD from Stanford University in Biomedical Informatics, performing research at the interface of bio-medicine and machine learning. She also co-founded a company offering expert services in informatics to both academia and industry. She has a passion for education and ethics in research and data science.
Jesse Hawthorn Ficks
Jesse is the Film History Coordinator at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and curates/hosts the MiDNiTES FOR MANiACS series at the Castro & Roxie Theater. He is also member of the San Francisco Critics Circle and writes film festival reviews for 48hills (aka SF Bay Guardian).
